HAPPY 42nd BIRTHDAY, CHRIS EVANS! (June 13, 1981)

I’ve met some actors who are wildly self-aware, wildly self-possessed, incredibly intelligent people. I’ve also met actors who have no idea what’s going on around them at any given moment. And both can turn in phenomenal performances. It really begs the question: What is going on in your head when you see a piece of paper with a bunch of words? The only conclusion I can draw is that there is no formula. I think it’s meant to be in a constant state of rebirth. It’s this organic, living thing that you have to re-examine with every character. Sorry if that made me sound pretentious; I’m hearing myself right now.

So this 12 year journey has come to an end and yet so excited for the next …

Norman and Melissa have so beautifully created two characters that have fallen in love with each other as we have fallen in love with them ❤️

To watch them grow together over the last 11 seasons has been a joy, their partnership on and off screen is just perfection and the story they have crafted has helped and supported so many, I have no doubt.

So all the love to Norman and Melissa, can’t imagine how emotional it was for both of them on the last day of filming but how amazing that we get to go on the next journey with them .. can’t wait for the next chapter of Daryl and Carol’s story 💙

I don’t ever claim membership to TWD fandom again. Because of statements such as this one:

“Carol is like an older sister to Daryl; she understands him without having to say anything.”

Just stop.

1. You can’t say definitively that is how Daryl views Carol in relation to him. Brothers don’t get jealous over their older sisters. Or upset and disappointed when they keep leaving.

2. Stop asserting that siblings understand Daryl better than a best friend or lover would. Merle didn’t understand/know Daryl that well. Neither did Rick. Maggie was closer to Sasha. And in real life, siblings generally don’t get along, don’t understand each other and have long periods of estrangement. They don’t have any groundbreaking evidence that people who share the same or one-half of their parentage just get each other, because that isn’t scientifcally substantiated. You don’t pick your siblings. You do pick your friends and romantic partners. Statements like the one I found above are so contradictory.

3. What is the proof that any of the other women understand Daryl better than Carol does? Beth, Connie, Leah, Michonne, Maggie, Rosita, Lydia, Judith? If you actually asked Daryl himself, you really think he’d name any one of these women over Carol?

4. If you don’t think Carol is a good partner for Daryl because she just “understands him so well” that is a load of bunk. Why wouldn’t you want to be with someone who just gets you on all levels? Friends to lovers trope is among the most popular for a reason; it feels real and surreal simultaneously.

Get a damn clue.
